What Should Donors Know About MAMMA?
Metro Atlanta Mother's Milk Alliance is a community milk alliance, not a traditional milk bank.
Donors undergo screening and serological testing similar to protocols used by milk banks. Donated milk is traced using an anonymized donor number.
MAMMA does not pay donors for donated breast milk, and recipient families are not charged for the donated milk they receive.
Unlike a traditional milk bank, MAMMA does not pasteurize donated milk onsite. Recipient families are responsible for pasteurizing the milk they receive at home according to MAMMA's instructions.
