During Your Consultation
We'll look at you, your baby, and your feeding experience together. Depending on your needs, we may assess latch, milk transfer, pumping, oral function, or bottle feeding.
After Your Visit
You'll leave with a personalized care plan, practical recommendations, and guidance on what to do next. Follow-up support is available when you need it.

Do I need to be breastfeeding to see a lactation consultant?
No. Our IBCLCs support families with breastfeeding, pumping, bottle feeding, combination feeding, prenatal preparation, and other infant feeding concerns. Your feeding goals help determine the right kind of support for you.
Can you help if I am exclusively pumping?
Yes. Pumping support can include pump fit, flange sizing, pump settings, pumping routines, milk removal, milk production, troubleshooting, and planning for exclusive pumping or returning to work.
Can you help if my baby refuses a bottle?
Yes. Bottle-feeding support may include responsive feeding, positioning, bottle and nipple selection, bottle refusal, transitions between breast and bottle, and planning for childcare or separation.
Do you offer home visits and virtual consultations?
Yes. Gwinnett Breastfeeding offers care in our Duluth office, virtually, and through home visits when appropriate. Availability depends on the service you need and your location.
Can I meet with an IBCLC before my baby is born?
Yes. Prenatal breastfeeding consultations can help you prepare for the first days after birth, understand newborn feeding, learn positioning and latch basics, prepare for pumping, discuss bottle or combination feeding, and create a plan based on your goals.
Does insurance cover lactation consultations?
Coverage varies by insurance plan and service. We work with families using insurance and self-pay and can help you understand your options before your visit.
